THE WORLD FAMOUS
ENGADINE LIONS
Welcome to the home of the Engadine Lions Rugby Club; home of the world famous Limping Lions Golden Oldies.
A family of men joined together in our love for the game they say is 'played in heaven'. We train on Sunday mornings and playing its home matches at the Old Bush Road Oval in Yarrawarrah NSW between February and September each year.
A SHORT HISTORY
Founded in 1995 and only having a few players, the founding members needed to recruit some of the senior team, their girlfriends, wives and children to make up a team of 15. Winning was not in the cards those first few years (they were thrashed by everyone) but all had fun even using a watermelon as a ball in the last match of each Gala Day.
In recent years players from other clubs have been heard yelling, “Is that the World Famous Limping Lions?” from across the pitch, and we have been happy to answer to the name each and every time!
WHAT WE'RE ABOUT
As the membership of the club approaches 50, we have both active players and social members who are all welcome and valued by the club.
With the motto, “we do good things” our clubs mission is to promote the game of rugby in the Sutherland Shire, raise funds for groups that are in need and to promote mateship between our teammates and the clubs we battle on the pitch.
If you have an interest in learning more about the club, do not hesitate to reach out.
